Media Converter does the efficient encoding possible for SPL's END-To-End Mediamagik IPTV Platform. It is a MPEG4 AVC / H.264 Advance Profile based professional, high performance industry grade encoder.
The SPL media converter is useful for encoding stored content. It is capable of recognizing almost 52 types of media codec available. SPL has successfully implemented advanced profile of AVC/H.264 to deliver optimal quality full resolution video at four to five times lower bit rate as compared to MPEG2 compression. This saves a lot on bandwidth and costs for IPTV service providers and broadcasters. It is capable of encoding stored media files as well as cable, terrestrial and satellite feeds. The MCON4 is fully integrated with SPL's "DRM and content security solution" thus guarantees the high level content security for encoded content. It is a software based system that ensures future upgradeability.
The MCON4 is shipped with important built-in features like redundancy, modularity, support for load balancing and auto failover mechanism that are must for a 24 X 7 operational environment. The modular architecture gives required design flexibility from small to large sized projects. It is built on carrier grade Intel XEON based dual processor, compact 1RU size server hardware with built in 100 M and GigE Ethernet port.
